FedEx is closed to anyone who is not an owneroperator so the only way is to buy a route. So with that comes all the guesstimating

In this case seller is ready to retire after owning the business for 23 years.

No I don't have experience, but I have sense enough to know when to ask for help and guidance which is what I'm trying to do here. Freightliner sleepers with 334k based upon anyone experience what's the best guess I'm looking at for replacement/rebuild. With proper care do I have another 300k or should I start looking now. Appreciate your help.

I am not advocating for this particular advisor, but he does bring up some valid points. You may be able to learn from what he has written.

I gathered as much but like anything else, the trucks need to be treated as separate purchases and due diligence has to be done.

I agree with your statement. You and I and others experienced in this industry know this very well. I don’t personally think that someone with very little knowledge of running semi trucks, who is contemplating buying a business running a minimum of 3 will fully understand the complexity of possible answers to the questions he has asked. We both know the limitless number of factors for when a Diesel engine needs a rebuild, which was his question. Not the he can’t learn about this, but I wouldn’t want to base my financial returns on the advise of random strangers with no skin in the game.
You certainly are correct that the trucks need to be treated as separate purchases. I believe after he is informed on the business as a whole he would be best served by hiring professionals to help him with a process he currently knows very little about. -
This may be a better place to ask your questions....

Hello everyone thanks for your replies. As a veteran I learned the stupid question is the question not asked. In addition, I learned to accept challenges/missions I wasn't trained for and was blessed to come through them all and the team I led. In short, should I pursue this business it is my intention to hire an experienced manager, talk to other managers and learn as much as I can everyday. I do know how to manage, recognize and reward good employees and I'm good at accounting or know people who are etc. So while there may be unknown challenges ahead most importantly I trust in the Lord and have no doubt I'll be better than ok. Thanks again.
