I am just glad my hubby never wanted me to fuel the truck whew unhooking was cold but standing out in 12 degree weather holding a fuel pump that would have sucked... course I cannot figure out why he never wanted me to fuel either... never would answer that question.

What is the rider policy on kids with Werner I thought I heard it was 10 years old and do they have to be your kids or can I take my nephew with me

IROCUBabe: what truck stops does Wener use for fuel? I see on there website about Toll cards, Cab cards, Fuel cards, E-Z passes and pike passes. How do these work when you get them and what is a Cab card? sorry for all the question but I'm just trying to prepare myself before I go
-
Thats all explained in orientation. Cab card is a stupid emailing card thing. I threw mine away. The passes are assigned to the truck they sit on the window, automatic sorta things save for a few states that don't have automatic passes. Those use toll cards, the only one I can recall is Ohio thats just a card for paying Ohio tolls they give you. Fuel stops are various, they will give you a fuel stop book that list them by state and by interstate exits. Very useful. Course for all that you need a truck Only the cab card and the efs card is given at orientation. The efs card allows you to get your paycheck loaded onto it, then you can pull it out at atms or use it like a credit card where there are star networks (walmart accepts them), If you have direct deposit that is not needed, if you don't very useful.

For the record, I did want to state Werner DID pay both yearly bonuses and made the last months payment on my student loan as well. So they did not screw me.
Baack Thanks this. -
Hi. Your posts really interested me because the Lakeland, FL Werner terminal is only 5 mins from home and I was thinking about working for them, since they keep sending me these postcards asking me to call them.
But I ran into some trainees saying that after being trained with them, they just say that they have no trucks for you and send you home on 'voluntary leave' after 30 days. I know you don't work for them anymore, but I was just wondering if you've seen or heard similar things.
I have been off the road for some time, so my choices are limited (Werner, Swift or Stevens). -
All freight is very low. A lot of companies are in similar situation. But especially if you live in FL you will be sent home 3 to 5 weekzs after training. Keep current job if you have it for now is my best recommendation.

Tell me about it! Stevens Transport told me that they are in a hiring freeze, but as far as FL goes, they told me that they will probably stop hiring from FL permanently.
I don't get it....I know freight is low and all that, but what is it about FL? I mean, how do people get stuff down here? Do they use a military B2 Bomber and shoot merchandise down with a parachute!? Haha!
