It says the D342 came out in 1955, so the 2U must had something else but I don't know what it was. It seems like high idle on them was about 750 rpm though as I recall. With the direct drive you could pull them down so slow that you could here each cylinder firing. At night you could make the exhaust glow red.

Went helped the kid put a belt on his exploder the other day. He said the granddaughter was trying to help...she was underneath for a while then climbed up the front and sitting on the engine... "I found the problem dad...it's all these leaves". Then proceeds to start shucking leaves out of the cowl.

All those fuel islands, self service truck wash, and a small store (out of picture to the left)... In the middle of nowhere... And it all looks pretty new... Maybe if it cools off enough I will get some good sleep tonight.

Edit... Oops I for got the photo

Drove close to 700 miles today on I95 and saw 2 Trucks on the Shoulder getting Inspected, both in Virginia

One was a Ratty looking Log Hauler and the other was a Stretch Flat with Structural Steel.....the Scales didn't seem to have any extra activity going on either

Well my dumb### thought I would be slick and get across West Memphis scales before 7 am. Guess what I completely forgot? That it’s daylight by 6 am. Them clowns were already working on a couple at 7 when I went through, but luckily I got the Prepass, at least I think I did, :D
