Anyone know how this works? It says VETS can have a qualified physician do my physical. Is my VA doc considered qualified or are there certain ones at certain VA locations? Thanks a bunch for any info!

Im pretty sure the VA will have doctors with the necessary framed papers on the walls to do that sort of physical. There is a few in the system here and there.

My spouse went to wherever we were told to go get her DOT exam. It was not within the VA system at all in those days and her service connected disabilitys were not a disqualifying DOT medical issues as they have become now along with mine. (Im not vet, just me. wear and tear put me to pasture almost 17 years ago.)

The big problem was when we are dealing with the VA we do not deal with certain parts of their system such as Mental health and did not answer every questionioning inside the VA here in the rock, it's getting too big brother for the smallest of details beyond the reason we are there in the first place. She solved that problem by getting a private doctor and he has the ability to do a DOT and would know where to send me to FAA once I resolve certain specific issues inside the heart at some point in the future. DOT medical is not for me, but the FAA medical will look at the vision and heart really hard. So that's going to be a limitation in terms of future ground school and what flight certs etc if I even get one. I don't expect to pass that one to be honest. But we will see how it goes.

The FAST ACT in the Government is usually found in the Federal Register if it is signed into Law after congress passage and president signs or the website called "The Hill" monitors Congressional Bill action in near real time and you will find the bill itself if it is still in either committee or passed out onto the house for debate and vote or into the senate etc. On that webpage.

One final problem with the VA, you cannot expect to get a exam or anything in a timely manner. Even the ER problems require half a day just to get in if you are hot having a stopped heart or something truly deadly.
