Ok so I've done a search on here for them and found some old threads on them. All I found was owner ops info and no company drivers info. So..I have been invited to join their orientation next Monday here locally to pull out of Kroger dedicated. Supposedly have a $4,000 sign on which is paid in increments. Recruiter *says* $1200 to 1400 a week...we SHALL see!! I'm optimistic to be honest but it is local and the benefits seems better than what i have now. So does anyone have any real world info on these guys from the company driver side?

-
Which Kroger DC, I ran for Titus out of Salem, VA.
-
You're the person I'm looking for!!! Details please sir. That's the one I'm being hired to run out of.
-
What do you want to know?
It was a decent job, it was easy, not the greatest hours, I would usually start between 4-8 pm and work about 10 hrs. -
What was the equipment like, did you pull Kroger trailers or there's, where did you mostly run to? And how was the work environment overall?
-
Dispatch was cool, is all done by a text message system, get dispatch around 8 pm for the next day. You fill the reefer onsite at the yard and any maintenance is done on the trailers there too, there is a truck and trailer wash to use after you fuel. You can fuel up basically anywhere you want too for the tractors. The tractors were in pretty good shape when I was there last year, had about half rental trucks but were buying more every month.
The pay was always on time and I received my sign on bonus of $2000 as promised by the recruiter. I averaged around $1200 per week. You could do multiple local runs for the day or long runs. I did West Virginia, east Tennessee and all or Virginia all the way to Virginia Beach. They do a ton of runs to Richmond. You pull Kroger trailers and do not unload but sometimes I would help at the store if needed using an electric pallet jack from the store. There are grocery dry loads and frozen/dairy/deli loads reefer loads.
You can use any available truck in the yard, you pick up the keys from the office. No assigned trucks except for a few people. Mostly day cabs but some sleepers and can do layover runs for extra money. -
I would still be working there if did not move. I prefer Titus as the second carrier to Ruan. No cameras in the truck like Ruan and faster trucks. Management leaves you alone to do your job, never have to talk to them unless have a problem.

One bad thing is the DC gets behind sometimes so have to be patient, when super busy season loads could be 1-6 hrs late from the time you are told. I lived 2 miles away so would always call to verify load was ready before I came to work so would not have to sit around and wait.
