Vail? No. You might find loads into Denver, but you will fight for them, and you will go outbound for under a buck. Rarely, there were loads out of Rifle, but they still paid garbage. If you pick up a load going through the mountains you might get one with extra time to stop, but... Unless you live in Colorado, you honestly want to stay away. Yes, I live here, and i know what its like. Crap frieght in and out of here on Choice is why I left and got my own authority.

I did, but when you ran OTR how often did you do resets exactly where you wanted to? If the gentleman takes opportunities when presented, its one thing. If he is continuously trying to route to someplace at a specific time he will have issues. I lose about 250 miles being home every weekend as opposed to every other. Same total number of days off, but being home every week limits what load options I have. The same basic idea will hold true for someone on percentage pay.

Tennman has said time and again that he takes a hit financially in order to be home every week, but its worth it to him. He also is trying to get to the same place every time, thus has a solid understanding of lanes/times.

Many years ago a friend wanted me to open a Jimmy Johns with him. The closing line of the franchise sales pitch was along the lines of "get your money right, then plan to work harder then you ever have in your life". Being "the Boss" comes with its own challanges. Long term it pays off, but only after putting in the work.
