GDA is 180 hours, which is really good, considering most trucking companies want 160 hrs.
Most schools push the same companies and I notice GDA does the same. You have dozens of choices though that the school probably isn't even aware of. Several tanker companies hire in Georgia and that's where the big bucks are for new cdl graduates. $1000 - $1500 weekly in most cases for new tanker drivers right out of school.
Here's just on example:
W.W. Transport
$2500 sign on incentive!
We have immediate openings for Class A CDL Truck Drivers to haul bulk food grade flour.
Benefits
- Paid 25% of the load. $1100-1300 gross, weekly.
- Out 4-5 days in a row. Home for resets.
- Health, dental, life insurance, short/long term disability, AFLAC
- 401K with company match
- Vacation/holiday/years of service bonus pay
- Flex Plan. $1,000.00 Safety incentive pay.
- We also have a passenger program and PrePass+

If it was me I would go to GA CDL out of Macon GA. That’s where I got my cdl. The teachers name is Tom an he charges about $1500 an you can have your cdl in 2 weeks an not owe a lot of money afterwards. I paid for mine cash an it was the best decision I could have made

Thank you Chinatown, I was hoping you would weigh in! You seem to be one of the residence experts from what I have read so far. GDA seems to know what they're doing, they've been doing it a while now, and they're only about 15 minutes from the house which is great. They also offer to allow you do the classroom session from home on your computer to get your permit. What are some good outlets to check for trucker jobs? I have looked at indeed a little. Thank you for your help, I will probably asking a whole lot more once the process gets started. Im not stuck on Schneider, but a few things that I like about them are training from what I hear, pay, and sign on bonus.

Check out the state tech schools
Schneider is going to want to hook you for $7500 and the state vo tech schools charge $1700
The company paid training is in the form of a personal loan and if you quit before the payback time , normally a year , you owe them a ton of money
So they can and will treat you any way they want and you have to pay them $7500 or thereabouts to quitLast edited: Jun 7, 2018

Schneider Bulk (tankers is good). Schneider will reimburse you the tuition for cdl school, up to $7000.00

Trimac Transportation hires in Georgia and hires new cdl grads. Tuition reimbursement also.
This is from one of their ads:
"We offer the best paid training in the industry! Whether you’re a recent CDL school graduate, a former military service member or an experienced driver, Trimac Transportation has the perfect career opportunity for you!"
Edit: Paid training means, paid "tanker training", not cdl training. Trimac doesn't have their own cdl school; they hire from cdl schools, then put you through tanker school at their expense and pay you.Last edited: Jun 7, 2018

Freymiller and CFI also have tuition reimbursement.
