I live in Georgia and I have been considering becoming O/O for a while now but I really do not want to do long hauls because of my family. Are there O/O positions for local routes? If so which companies are best and best places to look?

Look into fuel haulers. Shorter wheel base and midroof or flat top truck.
You will need a spotless background. -
fuel haulers
cement powder/fly ash haulers
grocery store loads (all 3rd party now, they are always hiring power units only)
rock haulers
scrap metal haulers
container/intermodal
tons of local stuff.
doesn't pay all that great though (honestly the grocery stores seem to pay the best) because everyone wants to do it. -
Thanks. Is it worth getting my own truck for?

That would depend greatly on how well you manage money. If you are the type that can put X% into a maintenance account and LEAVE it alone, buying a decent used pre-DEF truck can work. I did it. You just have to be ready when the shop says it's time for a rebuild/in-frame. Or your transmission takes a dump.

Can't speak for GA, I'm in OH and I know several guys that own day cabs and do well.
Revenue anywhere from $800 to $1400 a day depending on the type of work.
Get a truck with pto and put a pump on. Pump offs pay more. Pump outs pay a lot more.
