Yep:yes2557: I drive truck because I love it. Being succesful isn't about how much money you make. It's about Loving what you do. looking forward to doing every day. as long as you make enough to put food on the table and a roof over your head. Then you are a succes. If you make $500,000 but hate what you do. Then you are a failer. You are just to blind to see it.

    Maverick and lilillill Thank this.

im not even going to go through all the pages on this subject.
but if you are that pissed off about being a otr driver and not making money and getting cheated and treated with no respect and spending more money then you make, then do me and every one else here a favor.

make a sandwich board and stand at the on/off ramp where a truckstop is.and beg for money. keep a log book, then tell me if you make more money then a otr driver.

if you make more money then an otr drivers then i will help you open up a office to recriuit otr drivers to do what you do and make sure they have bennies,401, etc etc.

My fiance had trouble as well, but he found a company who did their jobs and accepted him. he's been on the road with them since august '08. they keep him rolling. he's been laid over maybe twice. his checks are averaging 1200 a week as a lease operator. you'd have to deal with your own taxes and such but he's got a good truck and they keep him running. (He's also a former Marine...once a Marine, ALWAYS a Marine. SEMPER FI!!!!) Can provide more info. PM me

I keep seeing these posts about how much this job sucks and how little you make. I only drove for about 6 mo. but I loved it . I was on track to make about 45 k my first year including training. Where else can you do that in your first year at any blue collar job(or white collar for that matter)? I worked const. all my life and had a successful business for 9 yrs until this economic meltdown. I made some phonecalls and in a couple of months was making money. I was paying my dues and after 4 months was making 800-1000 a wek consistant. I was also seeing a lot of this great country, and geting paid to do it. Now, I have a great job(const.) making 68k yr and I hate it. I miss my truck. So for all of you that enjoy your job, by all means, stick with it. I htink you get out of it what you put into it. One day Ill get back on the road but I have to take care of sick family members now. To all of those who think you are getting screwed over, make a change. McDonalds is only a phonecall away.

Neither of us has made enough posts to be allowed to PM anyone. That's why I asked you to give him my number. If you would, jot it down and give it to him, next time you talk. I just wanna pick his brain some. Thanks.

Well yes and no. My first job was with US Xpress. After a year I had better job offers, and after 2 yrs even better job offers. So I could've moved on but I don't like to change jobs and I chose to stay. After 3yrs I'd finally had enough and I went into pneumatic bulk and the pay was alot better.

    davan2004 Thanks this.
