in Werner's "defense", most companies do require a doctors note to prove that not only were you sick, but you're better to return. some companies go to the extreme level and MAKE YOU take another DOT physical.
this i have gone through many times myself (supplying a doctor's note).
you can try to call safety/human resources and explain in detail what has/had happened, maybe you'll get your job back.......??
if not, then tell your "future" employers IN DETAIL, what happened

What a crock...

Sounds like somebody may have made a computer error on your work record. Did you even try to remedy the situation?
-
Yes I did three times but they said it was me who made the mistake!

It sounds like you are not telling the whole story. How long were you on sick leave? Did you remain in contact with your dispatcher? When you tried to come back to work did you talk to a recruiter and/or your dispatcher? Usually, when you go on sick leave you are put inactive in the computer and if you are inactive for a certain time period it shows on your employee record as a voluntairy quit. In which case you could remedy it by calling your dispatcher and/or recruiter and telling them you want to come back.
Depending on your driver status(student, co-driver, qualified), you may only have to redo your application and sit around the terminal waiting for a truck, or you may have to redo your application and finish up some training/requalifying hours.
If you want to come back and your doctor has cleared you, call your old dispatcher and he'll get you back on track with who you need to talk to and what you need to do.
This is assuming no silliness is going on in regards to your complaint and what kind of person your dispatcher is.
Good luck. -

Y'know, if you get a free shower with every fill-up. Why would you simmer in your own sauce? Why would drivers want to simmer in someone elses sauce using an old fart sack mattress out of an 1967 Internation Transtar 1 cabover?

Guess I've said my piece... Now where'd I put that bar of Dial? -
After I recently obtained my CDL, I decided to apply to Werner for their training and employment. As someone in my 5th decade of life and self employed as an independent contractor for a town in another field, I decided to pursue trucking as my next endeaver. Being that I am still working in the field, I advised Werner Trucking that I would have to give notice of at least two weeks (which was no problem with Werner) to the town. The problem is that the procedure for training involves a physical immediately followed by training with the applicant not knowing for sure that the physical will be passed and a job will be available. My question is, who in their right mind will give up a present job for a job with a company who will not even guarentee you that a job will be waiting following the physical? No arrangements could be made to take the physical and then after two weeks assume the new position with Werner when discussed with the recruiter and the supervisor.
How does such a large trucking company get away with this crap? Are the only applicants to this company unemployed or irresponsible enough to quit a present job for another with no guarentee? Is this not unprofessional and low class or am I missing something here? Someone please clue me in.
