I was told at the Maverick orientation that 6.5 mpg is acceptable, the avg for the feul bonus payout wa 6.7 mpg for the Winter 2008 qrtr, avg payout was just over 200 for this same qrtr.

if you get one of those really nicely insulated sleeping bags from like REI or bass pro shops and a set of carhartt insulated work clothes, a few cigarette lighter plugged fans you can seriously cut down on idle time (a thermoking tripac would be nice for all those nights you cant stop # an "idleaire" truckstop so you can watch TV, cook somethin in the microwave, etc lol)
ScooterDawg and Baack Thank this. -
hey notarps I drive for maverick also I am still a rookie and I would like to know how I could improve my mpg and cut down on my idle time. I try not to run my truck unless it is really cold like it is now up here in illinois. any advice would be helpful. thanks.

Juggernaught, Keeping your foot out of it and accelerating smoothly are the two most important factors in getting better than 6.8 Mpg additional items to consider are to consider are, use your engine brake only when nessasary, drive slower on days where you have had to idle your truck, buy a good slepping bag ( $200 ), buy some top of the line long johns such as silk or polypropalene ( $50 to $100 ), never get in a hurry, use your cruise control whe and where it is safe to do so. All I can think of right now NoTarps may have some other ideas.

I talked on the phone with a Paul several months ago. I cannot remember his last name. Does anyone know? Another driver told me that even after the phone interview with Paul ? that there was a personal interview with someone in the main office bldg. He said you had to pass that one before being hired. He described him as a young guy with short blond hair. Does anyone know who this is and what kind of title he has. Thanks
