I'm running a 2006 freightliner classic with cascadia radio style setup.
Ive bypassed the cascadia set up and ran a rg-8 coax for now however I plan on adding a linear in the near future. Would it be better to switch to lmr-240 or would it take interference from my leds. I'm only asking because I'm not very familiar with microwave type cables.

Lmr 240 is by far better than 8x....Still might pock up rf noise from hid/led lights..Thats a battle many have..

Thanks for the info. I've used amphonal coax ends for awhile now one of the men who taught me cb repair swore by them. And I found 1000ft of one-240 for $400 so ill be ordering that as well.

I agree to an extent. We are switching to 102 steel whips and mounting them between the cab and headache rack on the trucks 18ft is usually the best with the whip to get the right swrs. However in some cases we May need longer coax which is why I'm getting so much.

Coax length does not affect swr..If it does then you have other issues...
A whip behind the cab will not do any good if your pullin a van(doesnt sound like you will seeing you mentioned a rack)....If your trk is a condo your gonna have tx/rec issues anyways with blockage..
