Hi, I've been driving for a few years now...Here's some advice for new drivers...
    1. Find a company you like and stay with it...don't bounce around...if you switch companies a lot, it will come back to haunt you...

    2. Best to buy or lease a new truck while your new and your enthusiasm is high...that way about the time you start getting burned out, your truck will be paid for and you'll have more options...

    3. Get with a carrier that runs all 48...and can still get you home...otherwise you'll get burned out running the same lanes over and over again...

    4. Be sure to thoroughly interview the company, after they have thoroughly interviewed you...remember it's your time also...You don't want to waste your time with a bad company..

    5. Make sure the company you work for has pre-pass and easy pass...

    6. Get with a company that offers a career path beyond just driving...

    7. Stay away from negitave doomsday drivers...who always paint a dim view of drivers, companies and the world around them...

    8. CB radios are a great tool to have...helps notify you of accidents, back-ups, directions...but beware of the negitave content on there...
A lot of people spew very hateful, vile, ideas on the radio...

    9. Smile and say hello to drivers you see everyday, it helps keep moral up...your smile and good cheer can really impact someone elses day in a good way...

    10. Buy yourself a mirror, a small plastic tub, a squirt bottle, and always have a gallon jug of water...

And if you decide you don't like the trucking lifestyle, get out of it while your still young enough to get into something else...

Thanks...It's kinda nice that there's a truck specific forum...the issues new, current or former drivers face are unique within themselves...
No one else is followed around by a 10 year work history or Dac...

Most applications just want last 3 jobs or a resume...

It seems it's easier to get a job in trucking if you have little or no experience...

The application process has just gotten way out of hand...

Funny...it seems your instincts were right....even way back when I was a new baby on here...your like 'This seems WAYYY out of place, but welcome aboard otherwise!'....

Actually I forgot all about this thread...I was cleaning up some of my subscribed threads and found this one way at the end...

Even the great Eagle showed up...wow...that's touching...oh the memories....I just want to cry...

    Where's a napkin...
