Ohh yeah, you don't need 10 hours of only one "off duty" status... How about 2 hours off duty and 8 hours sleeper, or 8 hours sleeper and 2 hours off duty? Whatever you use "on duty" between the two gets subtracted from the next day.
So maybe you would have a clue if you gave a ####. but you didn't, so here you are. Good job.
How do you not know what to be doing with elogs if you did running paper?Bank_Lbr Thanks this. -

Was just talking to a driver who said the company his is leased to uses keeptrucking ELD... it uses the tablet and at the end of the day he can "wipe out" everything he wants and re-do it any way he wants.... He said the thing never loses track of his location and it's not hooked to the truck... I can't understand that...
I heard other drivers saying that these ELDs using cell signals are not good at all because when they lose the signal, you can't show location or anything... and a driver got out of service violation because he had lost the signal and couldn't show to DOT officer any record of where he was during that time..
I bet there are ways to cheat on ELD depending on what device they are using... and how much "control" the driver has in order to be able to edit things... -
As for the alleged ELD, if it isn't hooked into the truck's ECM, it doesn't meet the requirements and you will be placed OOS if/when you are inspected.
...and there are GPS spoofers in the app store...can make any app in your phone think you're anywhere with just a few clicks. -
Yep, we have a line 5 now for just that, no more Walmarts.OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this.

If it's not connected to ECM it's not ELD. Probably AOBRD, which can't be used after December 19.OLDSKOOLERnWV, Rocks and Justrucking2 Thank this.

Even an aobrd should be hooked to the data line of the truck.
Other wise it’s the same thing as a paper log book..
Certainly not compliant if not hoked to the truck... -
Yes you think you can screw dot. Bur you forgot that eld records odometer mileage, location gps coordinates, engine on/offs. So go ahead.
Remember dot also are people like you and they not dummies so they can screw you big ticket. -
Running to AOBRD devices might work but not ELD. ELD, like he said track all that.
