Time to harass the load planner.

Year to date compared to last year:
revenue to the truck is 43% of last year
Dead head miles are 43% of last year
Dispatch miles are 41% of last year.

Unfortunately deadhead as a percentage of miles remains too high at about 15%.

Guess I can't yell too loudly or shrilly because I took most of Dec. '17 and Jan. '18 off.

I think 10% less total miles and the same revenue as last year is still an obtainable goal, If he gets his crap together.

L.A. market seems kinda hot. After yesterday's load canceled this morning (whoopy a tonu)..... the phone started ringing with about 50/50 load alerts and Agent cold calls.

Booked one around the corner. Now this shipper is telling me 17:30 after agent supposedly confirmed load was ready. Shipper says "yep we have the stuff ready just need to pull the order". Trying to get this load Canceled.

So after pissing off the broker, agent, and a bunch if other folks up the chain. They have the load ready and they seem to think the d.c. on the far end will reschedule to a sane hour.

May end up bringing it back........

Sounds like a Just Wow load. Must of had an impressive dollar amount attached to it.
Which is what happened to your first load, it didn't cancel, they brokered it off to an outside carrier.
I won't consider a load without freight bill in hand, unless I know the agent and how their freight works.
Unknown agent = Carefully checking every detail of the FB.
Usually if it's F/U, it's right there from the get go.

If I hear "We'll pre book you on that load." But no freight bill is generated, the can pound those kind.

    @Blu_Ogre so what happened?

I'm getting my new load stuck in my ### to a degree.

When I got here at 1140, appointment at 1200, there was a Landstar driver walking out of the shipping office as I was walking in.

So I check in, numbers are all good, blah, blah, and the lady says what time is your appointment?

    I says 1200.

    She says can't be, it's either 1030 or 1230.

I says it must be 1230 cause verified with agent twice, today in fact.

Ok. Go park we come get when ready.

Now I just have a feeling the other dude was supposed to be here at 1030, and lied. Also feel like everyone knows except me.

So agent says no problem, no problem we give detention after 2.
    That's when I know I been schnookered.

Being loaded now, and it pays great, $4 on 1,000 miles, Monday 0800 delivery.

But it just really burns my ### they use you like this.

Same as strait up lieing in my book.

It's all good. I been out a long time, getting testy.

Cancelled load was $5k Ontario to the HomeDepot around the corner from the house. Had an up to 10 drop at the store. I'm going to take off the rest of the month so free trailer storage! Rumor has it Snider stole the loads from CHR.

This one is $4600. Was sold as pick Thursday. Receiver is 24/7. WT 42k.
Get to shipper-- Appt 17:30. (They did hustle and got it done in a timely manner for a blindside (13:00))

Bills showed over 44K gross. Confirmed at scale. Good thing I was half tanks......

Have not heard back from anybody on rescheduling the dc receiver 03:00 appointment. Guess they missed the part where I told them the load will be late before they pressured me to put it on the truck. I'm betting I take it home for a couple of days.

I had calls this week to haul loads out of L.A. to Seattle for up to $6,000 on the desperate broker high side for dry van. There were 390 posted spot loads from L.A. to Portland/Seattle on DAT Friday morning.

Not interested in going down there this summer though. Been staying in the PNW and running regionally. Lots of home time, good grub & coin being made. I've decided that as long as I'm able, I'm staying out of California.
