Who is responsible for deciding how many miles a driver gets paid for? The shipper? The trucking company?
Why is the difference between paid miles and actual miles driven always a benefit to everyone but the driver? (duh)
Why is my husband getting screwed so bad on miles?
Can you fight this and win? Negotiate?

As you said... DuuHHH... Kinda like why do brokers always take a cut of the load pay... everyone gets their cut first then the driver gets whats left or not ...

If the broker gets cut out of the picture, then the Companies employees would actually have to DO the jobs they get PAID for.....

You can't fight it. You can only change jobs, which puts you back at square one.
Not all companies do this. Many times you see a driver post they only make .30 or .32 a mile. And that driver is actually making more than most drivers making .35 a mile. Because his company pays hub miles.
House Hold Movers guide is what the majority pay.
Of the ones who claim to pay practical miles. The majority use Rand McNally practical routing/miles. Not to be confused with the driver "accepted" industry standard, PC Miler.
Less than 10% of the industry pays hub. Over 75% pay HHMG (or less). The others fall somewhere in between the 2. -
Thank guys. So at this point we need to find out exactly what program they use to figure miles and make sure they don't double screw him. If we are going to get cheated we better get cheated fairly.

The run I do we drive almost 2500 and only get paid like 2000 and change and we don't even go they way they told us cause we found a shorter way. Sucks but not much you can do about it.

Ever worked for a company that had a brokerage as a subsidiary? They take 2 cuts, before you get your percentage. All legal. -
Not sure which one my company uses but it's usually within a few % of the actual miles.
I don't know if hub miles would really be a benefit anyway. You may get paid for a few more miles but in the big picture that would just lower the CPM. Add to that the fact that I can take any route I want. If I was being paid actual miles they would probably then give me a specific route for every run. That route would be sent on the QC which of course costs more than a couple of pennies to send. Add in the overhead of someone having to send me that info and someone having to monitor it to make sure I wasn't going out of route, and someone having to approve any out of route if there was a good reason for it etc. So more cost to the company which in the long run helps nobody except for the person/people hired to keep everyone efficient. Like it or not, unless you work for a very small company they would pretty much have to take steps to monitor it because you know there will be someone who tries to abuse it. The way it's done makes perfect sense to me. -
Well, don't go to work for that company...LOL!
A good example is Scheider. Their mileage program only pays 1.15 a mile surcharge included. There are a couple of guys on here on their Choice program and they are make more than that easily.
The difference is that you have to think when on %. You don't get paid to deadhead so you just have to watch what your doing!
