It's probably not a good idea to contact Mark until you've watched all his videos because he doesn't like answering questions. Those other two guys will answer any questions you might have

IDK, I've made 49 Mile contacts on AM with a stock "out of th box" radio and a magnet mount antenna. From SLC, UT I talk to people north in Ogden and south to Santaquin. There is a mountian foothill in between both directions. Mobile to mobile contacts and that, not some big eared base antenna on the other side.

I'm not really impressd with with a "CB shop" boasting about a 40-50 mile contact when radios can do it right out of the box... With a magnet mount antenna.

I'm always amazed at how far some folks talk on CBs, not counting the wildcard "skip" factor which is equivalent to a freakish stunt. I'm talking about reliable communications between particular parties that are repeatable.

Most reliable CB communications seem to come from line-of-sight conditions and are thus limited by them, as modified by such things as terrain, structures and weather. Except for "skip", anything significantly farther than the expected range as determined by LOS is always interesting to me. Better equipment such as longer antennas and more powerful and sensitive radios logically would fully maximize what the LOS can yield in any particular area and circumstance. But some range reports seem to defy physics, so it's always interesting to speculate why a particular range report(s) seem to be so unusual.

I doubt that the way a radio is tuned will make a big dent in the limitations dictated by LOS. I would think it's more due to conditions in a particular area, such as RF reflecting off fortuitous terrain or intervening structures and such, which may not be available a mile jor two up the road.

The "tune" makes a drastic difference.
    Often double the distance.

Did you ever get a response? I’ve tried reaching out to him a few times over the last few years. I’ve never received a response. I’ve even said I’d buy a radio outright from him. Maybe he is a great tech, but if his services are elite to a select few, people should not be wasting our time by recommending him.

Had good luck with Mark on 2 cobra 29 classics. Don't get on the air enough to justify bigger radio.

I was under the impression that he only worked on export radios.
