AGAIN, IT SEEMS TO ME IT'S ALL GOING TO THE cheapest driver that will haul it.
Landstar agents are very crooked in so many way's like the man stated.They are not giving the work to us,they are putting it on load boards and broker boards to put more money in there pockets.
It really was never like that,but today it is CUT-THROAT..SURVIVAL..
And it seems to me the agents will survive this and the owners(drivers) will go belly up at landstar.But dont worry landstar has oriontation 3 times a week with new people coming aboard every day..
They are being sold a ''bill of crap''
Not to mention LANDSTAR HAS BECOME ANOTHER C.H. ROBINSON
Yester years LANDSTAR WAS THE CREAM OF THE CROP.
TODAY THEY ARE NO DIFFERENT THEN THE REST..
I told everyone 4 years ago watch Landstar in 4 years from now..And #### i hit the nail on the head.

Yeah, I just got on with Landstar on December the 01, and the only reason I am even in the game is b/c I don't have house/land/car payments and I put quite a bit down on the truck. But, with the truck in the shop twice already and the holidays and I am getting killed, and I don't have any connections.
My wife is mad at me b/c I laid over for 3 days in Alberta b/c I wouldn't haul a load out of Montana for $1.10 per miles (which is like $.715 for me) b/c if you take if for that much then that is what it will pay next time - let someone else take it - but, really she is right b/c I am paying for the fuel and at least the load would pay for the fuel, but I can't do it b/c I am a man of principle and I just puke thinking about pulling a load that cheap while the broker makes money just sitting there. I don't think these agents (except for the one really good connection that I have) are working hard to find freight straight from the shipper - they are just posting broker loads. Again, I am a man of principles and I can't do it. I guess another example would be that if my wife won't give me none, should I cheat on her just to get some? NO - I can't do it b/c I took vows !!! Same with being and O/O - I am not going to bow down to the brokers and haul freight at a loss - I don't see Wal-mart selling their products at a loss.
Anyways, I need some connections with Landstar and I am willing to give any of y'all out there my phone number - just PM me, if you can help me - the main thing is that I need to know HOW to make connections.davan2004 and 1pissedoffdriver Thank this. -

The only ''connection'' is will you haul it cheaper.It is what it is.
I feel bad that you are struggling but they ''market'' a fantasy in oriontation.
I am sitting at home and prolly will cancel lease soon with ''landstar''.It's not the landstar i loved and new for a long time.

Yeah, I am the definition of an idiot b/c I have done this 3 or 4 times now. The 2nd load that I took was from PA to WY ... for $2.75 per mile -then got to WY and nothing...I had to Deadhead to SLC, UT and only got good rate to Laredo, b/c other driver was broke down ... then got to Laredo, TX on Saturday ... absolutely nothing .... and I went to Houston to visit brother and there was nothing on Monday, so then I took a load from Terrell, TX to Denver for $3.00 per mile and then from there took the bait again and went $2.20 per mile to Quebec, which was stupid, b/c there was nothing 2 days before Christmas so I deadheaded home to SC. Apparently, I didn't learn my lesson b/c I deadhead like 500 miles to get another load from a broke down driver (day after Christmas) that paid $2.00 a mile to Florida - stupid - finally broke down and puked and took load from Orlando to Texas for $1.60 per mile, then got lucky and found agent who gave me a local load that paid well to sit over New Years but then after truck broke down, I deadheaded like 600 miles to get a load to Calgary that paid $2.25 per mile -REALLY STUPID - NOTHING IN ALBERTA RIGHT NOW - NOTHING IN CANADA RIGHT NOW - NOTHING IN MONTANA, UTAH, WYOMING, THE DAKOTAS, IDAHO, NOTHING. I moved over to Fargo, ND, where I am currently loacated, and I am very upset because:
This isn't turning out like I planned it. I put lots of money down on the truck, have no car/house/land payments, no kids, and no debts, and I am not really doing any better than a company driver (in fact worse, probably since as a company driver I would be running, because I refuse to run freight for less than $1.65(no deadhead) or $2.00(with deadhead) and my wife is mad at me b/c I am taking a stand on this and there simply isn't that type of freight right now and this whole Landstar thing is looking like a scam b/c all the agents are doing is posting loads that their trucks aren't running, or either taking the fuel surcharges and keeping them and posting the loads for less. I know this is happening b/c it happened to me in Alberta the other day -a war story, but I won't bother y'all with it.
Unless someone explains to me how to make connections to get the agents to load me with loads they're getting straight from the shipper, this simply isn't going to work out. I can see it alreadyldavan2004 and 1pissedoffdriver Thank this. -
