If you're under 30 and have a good/normal metabolism, it's possible to lose weight with no excercise unless you just eat stupid. But after 35-40, you'll have to be more diligent. After 50, a lot depends on your genetics how much effort will be required to not add abdominal area fat

Last July, I was 6'5", 247 pounds, 20 plus % body fat. I felt and looked terrible. Bought a Fitbit, started tracking my calories and macro ratios (carbs/fat/protein) and went Keto. Started losing weight, but muscle wise I started looking like a concentration camp survivor. Bought a set of resistance bands and started working out daily and hit a wall at 220 lbs, 17% body fat.

Changed up the diet to be more protein focused (I shoot for 20% carb, 40% fat, 40% protein), increased my calories, and increased my daily exercise. Now I'm 210 lbs and 15% body fat. I was down to 205 but my wife said I was starting to look too thin, so I'm working my way back up to 215 or so but at a lower body fat %. I'm 48, by the way, and a few years ago doctors were telling me to get ready to spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair.

I eat about a pound of steak every day, 6-10 eggs, as close to zero sugar and zero grain as I can get (I do put 2 packets of sugar in a 24 oz coffee every day), 2 protein shakes, and about a gallon of water. I supplement with a multivitamin meant for men over 50, double dosed, plus 2 capsules of fish oil, 2000 iu of Vitamin D, 1000 mg of Vitamin C. 2 days a week I take a break from working out and eat whatever the hell I want. It's most similar to a very old school natural bodybuilder's diet, just not as much calories. Look up a guy named Vince Gironda and his steak and eggs diet. And yeah, I do mostly eat at the truck stops, but no fast food if I can help it.

If you don't want to shell out for a Fitbit tracker (the good ones are kinda pricey) get the "my fitness pal" app for your phone and start tracking your food intake. You will be shocked at how much you are actually eating compared to how much you THOUGHT you were eating.

Alzheimer's Disease: Olive Oil Shown to Stave Off Alzheimer's | Reader's Digest

I read about this research a few months ago. High quality raw plant based fats have compounds that help your synapses stay healthy, the exact opposite of lead poisoning.

The moral of the experiment is: if you aren't eating raw olive oil, you're stupid.

I get about 500 calories a day from olive oil in my salad dressing. If I eat a ##### Slap Salad for breakfast I can go a good 6-8 hours before I get hungry again. That includes getting a workout from securing flatbed loads.

It's funny how you can remember things. I am 6' 2". The day I was discharged out of the Air Force I was 175 pounds. This was down from my HS football playing days weight of 205. From 1980 till 1995 I bounced up and down between 200 and 220. Never had problems with high blood pressure or diabetes. Always passed my physicals. Then as I started getting closer to 40 (1998) I started having problems. Went on medications and gained a bit of weight. By the time I left trucking in 2012 I was at almost 260 pounds. Today I am back at my football playing weight or 205. Blood pressure is actually low at times. Having to use insulin for diabetic control. I totally stopped drinking soda's and I can't drink any form of alcohol. The trucker lifestyle is just not conducive for weight loss. You young guys who are packing on the weight pay attention. I know you are doing Ok with those physicals. The human body does a remarkable job of staying OK while young. However take that extra weight into middle age and your going to start failing physicals. Because of my history I am the last one to get on a soap box, however I am telling all of you from actual experience don't do it. Leave soda alone. Limit sodium intake. Watch those carbs. Stop eating late at night. Quit smoking. I had a cardiac cath procedure done at Riverside Hospital in Newport News Virginia on May the 22th. Mine was complicated by epilepsy. I do have Coronary Artery Disease. Thankfully it's treatable with medicines. Those shots hurt. I take 5 a day. I have to have lab work done every 30 days. I am saying all this to let you know that your body will let you down at some point. You have GOT to lose that weight. I am 60 years old now. Not a week goes by today when I am not hearing about a friend or a contact has died or had a major heart attack or stroke. I make no bones about it. I love all you truckers. I stay concerned about you and your health. I'm on my knees here begging you PLEASE take corrective action TODAY to not let what has happened to me happen to you!

Honestly I wish I was vegan. Meat is not the only source of protein. Lysine enzyme is found natualy in beans.
When you look at the largest animals on the planet and realize they do not eat meat, it makes me wonder.

Meat offers more than simply protein. Eggs are packed with nutrition, milk is full of nutrients and probiotics. This vegan craze is a fallacy that’s real easy to romanticize for people who have no connection/understanding of their food. We NEED these animals on this planet. The cow is quite possibly our greatest resource for correcting our destruction of the environment/atmosphere.

The problem is the orthodoxy of the conventional agriculture system. Visit a farmers market, a local grass based farm, health food store, etc. and buy your animal products from them. The difference is incredible.

I don't see how milk has probiotics or much if any after it is pasteurized. Or why adults think they need milk?
I do not eat eggs very much as I think my body has a low sulphur tolerance. If I want high sulphur food I will eat onions.

I didn't read all the Ule Gibbons posts.
But I'll say this I literally dropped about 15lbs when I stopped eating fried foods.
    And drinking soda pop.
    It just fell off.

Just passing by and Lepton1 Thank this.

Yes you can lose weight. Stay away from sodas and beer. Those right there are my 2 biggest contributors to weight gain.
