You said it, "mild handicap". If you have a mild handicap then you shouldn't even have a placard. My wife has been suffering from severe fibromyalgia for almost 10 years now. Can hardly move around the house and they won't even issue her one. It is a massive chore for her to even get in the truck and she doesn't get a placard, let alone drive a truck ever again. I don't care what you say, if you can drive a trucks and do all the chores in line with this job, then NO, you don't need a placard. If you don't like that, then retire and take your "reserved" parking with you.
