Try your hand at hauling fuel. Marathon Petroleum has some openings in several loacations around the Midwest. Great hourly pay and home everyday. Great benefits and much much easier than food service.

There isn’t much that’s not easier than food service, but fuel is tough in it’s own right unless you’re one of those that’s lucky enough to delivery only to places like truck stops and airports.

Otherwise, shoehorning into tiny gas stations in a manner that can’t be done in a way that allows the avoidance of having to back out on to a busy road will become a fact of life.

Came across this thread looking for advice and answers to some rookie questions, I am currently in the process to be hired on by an LTL company in southern California. I’m 28 and I know trucking is the right move for me and my family. Company that I’m going though is offering Cdl training at no cost to me now or in the future. It is a teamsters company with great medical benefits, but no pension. My thought now is to gain that year of experience and hopefully haul fuel. My brother in law works for Marathon and said he could get me in once I do get my Cdl, not sure how true or possible that is. If this is possible, what should I expect as far as pension? Benefits? Those two are the most important to me, among other things like schedules and work life balance (which I know will come with seniority so it’s something I’m willing to compromise on) but not on benefits and pension.

    if you’re talking about Reddaway/YRC…….
Expect low low wages….. and d a m m n good medical coverage for you and your family.

If you have any specific questions let me know….. my suggestion: find a way to deal with the low wages for 2 - 2 1/2 years then move to cryo.
