Because it's really a Volvo D16 engine. And they are not made anymore because they are problematic boat anchors. There is the other category.

He asked for a million mile engine and the d16/mp10 is more of a million second engine for many

Ddec iv 12.7 or n14 celect plus. Both are bullet proof and can be built with plenty of power.

If you’re going to stay 80000 and under, the old 12.7 high revving factory 500 Detroit. Good economy, tough, good strong performing engine. Not the 430. Not the 470. Has to be the old 500 hp Detroit. With the right gears, you will be able to left lane it and not have the economy go to hell.

I don't know if you qualify the trucks they're attached to as well, but the RD with an E7 will last forever in the dirt.

We’ve had several good ones....N14, 14.0 DD60, 3406b, M11 but the most trouble free of all was the 6nz. Easiest to find a mechanic is the DD60 though

Oldironfan, ShooterK2 and shogun Thank this.

iv seen them all go a million miles without a major overhaul, but iv seen many of all the above need to be rebuilt before 1 m as well.

I.d go with the cat only because the warranty on a plat rebuild is awesome
    ..
But I sold a 12.7 with 1.7 on it and the guy put a fan hub and a six pack in it before running it to two million and selling it

For over thirty freaking thousand for an inframe it better have an awesome warranty. Jesus i can buy a factory remanned short block n14 or 12.7 for literally half that.
