    They did revise the magnet to be stronger than the original batch. If you are worried, then solve the problem with a $6 "tether" like this: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_...eld-keywords=ram+tether&rh=i:aps,k:ram+tether

    They have 2 interfaces: Modern and Classic. Although I must warn you that even the "classic" does not look like what you came to love on 720 / 730. It does look quite a bit different on the 740 because they added more buttons and features and that forced it so that it can't look exactly like the old interface. It's similar, but not the same. So, the bottom line is that if you are 100% showstopper on having the old interface, then you way want to stay with the 730 model which can still be bought and is still supported with new maps at this time.

    Cattleman84 and classic_150 Thank this.

    @Mark Kling
    I got a TND 530 I updated it and the maps then I turn it on and get a blue screen saying the maps did not transfer completely but when I log into the dock it says everything is up to date I called tech support and they went in and did a full rebuild so after that I did what they said and ran diagnostics then updated everything again and now it is back to saying maps did not transfer complexly and still saying everything is up to date do you happen to have any ideas on what I can do to get this working thank you in advance

    So Don
    Where are the new maps for the 730,I have 2 units and both are on Map Version 4151031 which I believe are at least a year and a half old, haven't seen a full map update posted on the dock in that length of time. I really don't think RM is supporting this model anymore as even the release notes on the dock are not up to date. The only thing I seem to get are construction updates.
    I'm sorry to hear about Mark and hope he gets well soon, as without his input we might as well bid RM Adios.
    Thanks
    John

    You can not change the display on the 740 except to tweak it to HD and basic. so it will not look like the 730.
    the mag mount issue has been fixed and the new ones are pretty strong. however if you are launching soda cans, what is it doing to you? anyway i'm not sure anything will hold it in place except perhaps talking to DieselBoss

    Sounds like you will have to call CS again and probably send it in for repair

    Same answer. They revised the magnets to be stronger if you have an earlier revision. You can call them at 800-237-7270 and tell them that it falls off. They should send you the updated magnet mount (slice they call it.) If yours is already newer and your ride is rough enough to still bump it off, then get a tether: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ram+tether&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aram+tether&tag=trllc-20

    What is to determine newer or older? I purchased mine in March... and it falls off without it being bumpy... the arm vibrates so much it just sakes it right off ... I have called about a replacement... they’re on “back order”

    The 730 is not declared EOL (end-of-life) yet. In fact the 720 isn't either for that matter. Their Lifetime Maps eligibility statement page is here: Rand McNally | Lifetime Maps

    But then you asked the impossible question: when will they release a map update for "Model XYZ?" I have never been able to discern a pattern out of those guys. When Mark was active I had more insight because I would beta test new maps for several months before they were released. But even Mark was not in the loop more than a month or two ahead of a release. Like Stonehenge, it remains one of the world's great mysteries.
