That I have seen big terminals like rahway(all their work is open from 4 to 6 to load, Savannah(its a hailmary), Houston, Baltimore(more work than they can handle),Lima( main customer is open 24/7)and Akron(no complaints about loads with them)have them, walk in ask tell them where you want to go and 90% of the time you will leave the office with a load heading your way, terminal to avoid at all costs Joliet(affiliated first floor the dispatchers is Bryan all his customers are by appointment and his guys have priority, dont bring a belly trailer he will take it away from you and it takes an average of 2 days to leave that terminal with a load),corapolis(drop and hook but that's where the positive ends) riceboro ( way too many bad things to say to fit here) both of them I have bad luck and all their loads pay right about 1 a dollar a mile. This is from my personal experience I try to be nice to them and I dont mind doing a favor for them to set me up with a good paying load.

so my terminal manager just released the new bonuses for 0/0 and company drivers for the northeast. 18k owner operators and 12k for company drivers(good companies don't usually give out bonus if they removed the speedgauge it would save them a lot of money on bonuses) I love working out of my terminal but when they start questioning you taking time off as a owner operator theres a problem (relocating to Hinesville,ga selling a house while buying a house is really time consuming not counting managing my other 2 drivers hauling dry van)

Who asks an O/O why he's taking time off? The answer is because I am, that's how this works.

Shouldn't that say proper O/O mentality? Maybe us Chicagoans are more demanding?

Like my father always tells me there's more companies looking for drivers than drivers available never let them push you around, and I agree we need to stand our ground not to get pushed around,

It's all about finding the hot spots sometimes the same terminal that has 3 dollars a mile runs this week next week only has cheap freight and its hard to find them sometimes. Rahway has 1k loads running 300 miles or less all winter but next thing you know you are hauling latex for 1200 dollars running 900 miles. right now I'm just ok home every night 400 a day (one short load and a preload)working less than 9 hours a day.
