    Hey All,

My 2008 Utility dryvan was stolen 10 months ago with cargo. It was found last week with cargo and in same shape as when it was stolen. I spent a good amount of money on it and the insurance company settled the claim after deducting their $5000 deductible. The safety is expired and I will have to get it done again.

Now, I would like to purchase this van back from them. And to save some expense for them in hope to lower the salvage value, I asked and the adjuster allowed me to take it from the Impound yard and park it at my yard. I paid for the impound fee which they will pay me back if the buyback deal does not go through. I don't know if what I did was the right thing to do. Today, the adjuster asked me to make an offer for the dry van and my number is low.

I would like some input on this negotiation process and what you think I should offer the insurance company, especially when I saved them a lot of expenses.

I paid $11,000CAD last year for this.

    Thanks

I'd give them their deductible back and claim the trailer. If it's in identical condition, then it shouldn't be salvage. But of course I don't believe in being gouged period.

I offered them $2500 + what I paid the impound for a total of $3500. And they agreed without any negotiation.
