Friend of mine told me of an owner operator who has his own authority, 5axle rig, 35 ton Rgn, looking at an 89000lb load on the load board.
Most stupid thing you heard...

Like Bill Engval says here's your sign.
Every driver should have a stack of those in their truck ready to hand out.
Picked up a load of granite and marble slabs near Chicago.
Loader said he'd been loading the same way for 15 years.
Told him to move the frames forward so I wouldn't be over weight on the trailer.
He refused.
So to prove a point I had to drive all the way to the closest Cat scale which happened to be in Gary, Indiana.
54 miles there, 54 miles back, 5320 lbs over on the trailer, 4300 over on gross.
The owner of his company was there when I got back and he was not happy.Son, Oxbow, passingthru69 and 4 others Thank this. -

There's been sooo many. Pulled up to a Grocery store in San Fran being remodeled with a load of 60ft Glue Lams. Guy walks up says "How many guys would it take to get those unload?"
They were about 25k a piece. My reply was " You don't have enough guys." They'll be at the beam yard in Daily City.Dave_in_AZ and Lepton1 Thank this. -
Back in the day we were putting 6x9 speakers in my buddies truck. We needed to cut holes in the door. This hanger on said why don't you use a hole saw? I stared at him in disbelief. We sent him with a $20 bill to home depot. He comes back an hour later and says "the home depot guy helped me look and look and look. After awhile he realized that they we're out of them". We never told him there isn't a 6x9 hole saw, and to this day I'm not sure if the home depot guy was just playing along, or if he was really that ignorant. I'm going with ignorant.

Had a bunch hauling reefer.
Favorite was at a sugar creek hams. Got loaded, went to Cat scale right next door and it’s overweight.
Went back to the shipper and told the dock worker it’s overweight. Showed him the scale ticket and gave him a copy to show his boss.
Said they weren’t re doing it.
Long story short I told them they had 3 options
1) re work it until it’s legal.
2) pull the product off and I’ll leave empty.
3). I’ll drop the trailer in your driveway and you and the carrier can sort it out.
It got fixed after someone got their ### chewed.
Also had a guy at Tyson tell me if I “slide my fifth wheel that weight would just slide right off” as I’m 81,000 lbs. -
I wondering whether he expected you to load your truck with the shovel?cke Thanks this.

“How much do those 5 crates weigh?”
“68,000”
“Total?”
“No each”Dave_in_AZ, stwik and SavageMuffin Thank this. -
Here a guy on the radio call the other a racist..
Guy says " racist? what talking about I'm not racist my neighbor is black". -
This sounds EXACTLY like the dumb broad that no longer works at James Hardie in Peru IL. I hate that place. Take forever to load and it's regularly 3k over what the bill says.
