Usually the company covers the repairs for a certain amount of time or miles. If you have the contract read thru it and see what it says.

I no longer have any sympathy for a truck driver
Being bent over the table on a lease purchase.
Not is this day and age with all the information available.
In fact I changed sides. I'm smile every time one
Of these companies sticks it to them.
They deserve it.
Everybody and their brother told them not
to do it. But they swear there smarter than the guy
before them who went belly up on the same fleece.
Call me all the names you want I don't care.
There's another 500 suckers lined up behind the op
readt to fall for,the samething.Hotplate Thanks this. -
Will do when I have the stomach for it. Thank you.

Sadly that's true. Best case scenario with these lease deals you make a bit more than a company driver. That's if everything always goes well all the time. We all know it most likely won't. What's the point? Save up five or ten grand for a down payment and get your own truck.Lonesome Thanks this.

I think the companies are at fault also. We have mandates and regulations for ever. Why cant the government address this nonsense and do something useful?
-
What I have always wondered is why truck drivers who are paid hourly are not paid overtime like all other hourly employees have to be?

Something I have noticed about some people that drive trucks. When they figure out a way to take advantage of the situation they jump on it. One driver showed me he never takes his 30 minute break. He stops for 5 minutes changes his log to personal convenience and after 25 minutes it changes to driving. I try explaining that if he keeps abusing the system the company will eliminate the pc time altogether.

The elog records every change of duty location. Any mere surface sleuthing will reveal that. Plus PC has to start and end at the same location. I've heard of drivers just unplugging the elog and driving x number of miles down the road. It's all recorded for whomever might want to look into it.
PS. Many drivers and even safety managers don't understand, or don't want to, the personal conveyance rules.Lab work Thanks this. -
The PC on my ELD is programed for 25 miles or 90 minutes. So if I go to a restaurant and leave it on PC I have to change it back to off duty when I arrive. Then change it back to PC when I leave. This way it only counts against the miles and not the time. I always use this when at the yard so I can drop the trailer and have a choice of resturants instead of subway and all the fast food at the t/s.
