Turn off the switch and turn it back on. These auto shut offs drive me crazy, but the alternative is you forget to turn off the switch and burn the mirror out.

My 97 stay on as long as the switch is on, there is a light on the dash right in front of your face to let you not forget. I never use them any more. I use rain-x on my mirrors, works great. Use it on the side windows too.

My 96 is same way. I just started useing rain x on mirrors as well a couple months ago and love it so far. Coming from air wiper days, I learned to carry rain x when it came out, life saver when wiper quit working.
