It is a very strange coincidence that you happened to post this, as what you described in this post actually happened to me about 2 months ago. Except I didn't pass on the shoulder, I waited until the driver passed, and was expecting to go about my business. When I was starting to pass him he started to pull into the left lane, running me onto the shoulder. At this point I knew that he was trying to make me crash, so I slammed on my brakes and took the first exit I saw before the two trucks tried to crush my compact because they were bored. Unfortunately I didn't get their numbers, and I didn't see anything written on their trailers.

I don't get it, I try to keep my truck karma good, I always let trucks merge, change lanes, etc. I even go out of my way to do that (for all vehicles, not just trucks) but I seem to have bad luck. Anyway, I guess it's not a truck thing, just some idiots that don't seem to care about anyone on the roads but themselves. Thanks for the responses though, seeing that not all of you are like this makes me feel better (and safer).

Not sure but I have noticed in Illinois, Michigan, California and Ohio that some trucks do that. Ask one of them one time why and he told me in not polite way that if they can't do 65 why should the 4 wheelers.
Personally don't agree with the split speed limits some states use especially in the rural areas but don't think the four wheelers are the problem. Its the bureaucrats.
    Wish they were all impeached

Judging from the way you posed the question,,i would assume that the faster truck of the two slow trucks jumped out to pass prematurely of course if you were the only one coming he should have waited another 10 seconds to let you by,,But lets also assume at the moment he jumped out in front to pass that the grade of the road increased like starting a gentle rise,,now lets also figure on both trucks heavy,,like 80,000 pounds,,,that deffinately would make a drag race last awhile,,i know as i have been there,,wanting to pass, having the ability to pass,,but my gutless wonder of a truck would not let me,,Don't blame us,,Blame the idiots back at the company that wanted the nut's cut off of our trucks,,But a true professional driver would have waited to jump out,,and another smart driver in the right lane slower truck could have tapped the brake just a bit,,Obviously the truck in the left lane is going faster than the truck in the right lane,,,Or he wouldn't be trying to pass in the 1st place,,so yes it takes two idiots to tie up a 2 lane ,,Granted,,,Blame it on the new breed of drivers we are seeing today,,Things were not like this 15 yrs ago.

What most car drivers might call completely flat, could also be a 1% or 2% grade. Just because your car can accelerate up a very slight incline, doesn't mean a heavy laden truck can. Fully loaded, a truck will lose speed going over an overpass.

As you drove did you notice any Bears?? They may have been keeping you from a ticket. or were they going about 63mph?? Alot of trucks have governors on the trucks that keep them at 63-65 so when one tries to pass another you have a crawl contest. Sorry

I really hate to say it but there are Supertruckers (as well as non-commercial drivers) out there that think it is funny to swerve and screw with other vehicles on the road whether it's a tanker, dry box, four door sedan or whatever. It takes all kinds to make the world go 'round but only a few of us keep surviving long enough to tell the stories.
