No, but understand there has been abuse of that system (Trojan Horse, Beam Bros etc) , and not all companies have a good 401k they just have one.

Pat Salmon/MCA are part of the Postal Union (APWU). Some barns are even Teamster's. Not quite sure how their retirement plan would be since Unions tend to offer a pension too. Benefits are around $600 a month for single and around $1k for family and you can't op out either. All straight time too, no OT.

Postal workers are under the FERS plan. You get a Pension and 401k (TSP). So I doubt Pat Salmon would offer this...Union or not...since it only applies to Federal employees. Teamster's...it MAY be a different story.

I get all that and agree 100%. What threw me off was his statement about being forced into a particular/specific 401K account.

That's true. They force you into a specific 401k account. Whatever they offer.

Anymore info on the health and welfare. I've been with my company for a year.

At the beginning of 2018 I took the companies health insurance for me and my family. (3 people @ 530 a month)

I'm supposed to clear roughly 270 in h&w after paying for this. Somehow my checks have been reduced by about 250, and on top of that I'm paying for my insurance out of my own pocket. Or so it seems.

    Here's how I figure it.
These are all made up figures for the point in trying to make.

    I pay you $800.
For every 800 you make I give you 200 to you for your health insurance.
We will say %25 is taxes.

    So you get your check.
And you clear 400 bucks. Expecting 600 but you look at your stub and see health insurance $200.

Sounds like your actually paying for your own health insurance.

    I guess what I'm asking.

Am I being ripped off of my h&w and on top of that paying for my own insurance?

I was offered a job with them out of Memphis prior to just getting hired by Eagle Express. The reason I did not take the job is they force you to take their insurance with the H&W regardless if you already have insurance. Not sure about the 401k, but Eagle Express told me I only have to show a credible coverage form and I'm good and they will pay me the 40 hours at 5.19.

Easy. Go to the post office and ask to speak to the postmaster. Slip him $1000 buck all $20 (don’t know why but they like 20s) and tell him you want the mail hauling contract.
    That will do it.
    Good luck.
