Has anyone encounter this before at the weigh stations. Wheel break not equipped with indicator - Commercial motor vehicle. Highway traffic act Ontario Regulation 587 (Pursuant to section 207 (1). It's not the first and won't be last time that trucks are pulled in for inspection but it was the first time we got ticket for this. Ticket is for $490.00 and it was at Milton scale

Google is your friend. Laws says any truck manufactured after 1995 must be equipped with auto slacks, and must have a visual indicator.
-
I read that as well but I have checked other company trucks and most of them don't have visual indicator. But I'm sure this is what they are talking about, Now how many trucks on the ONT hwy have them.
-
I read it as the owner of the truck is getting cited, for the actions of the driver. -
Very few .. is it a ontario law I know lots of guys that bought trucks in Ontario new and didn’t have them installed..tinytim Thanks this.

Yes It's a Ontario Regulation. That's the problem that even though it's only in Ontario why truck dealers are not aware of the regulation and offering visual indicators.
tinytim Thanks this. -
What i find with some weight stations is if a certain truck driver gives the officer some lip they will take it out on the next driver either from the same company or at random and will pick on a fault that maybe they'd normally excuse just to make their point so that's why i'll always be nice to the person carrying the gun.magoo68 Thanks this.

I'm in BC. Take your truck in for the every 6 month (yes, 6 ##### months) CVI, and they'll check your brakes, and if you don't have the indicator on them, they'll be installed by the shop. I would assume that the other jurisdictions that require them, the shops would do the same.

I wonder if you could go back on whomever did the ON inspection for not doing a proper inspection.

I was thinking about this thread just looking around for new trucks, (but i gave up, too expensive with this exchange rate, i'll keep fixing my older truck ). I noticed brand new trucks still at the dealer here in Ontario, don't have any kind of indicator,(sorry not very good photo.)
Should the buyer install push rod indicators before hits the road or is dealer responsibility to sell trucks in compliance with provincial laws? Not many drivers are aware that can be fined 500$ and bunch of points on CVOR, driving a new truck out of dealer gate.Attached Files:
