Does someone have the part number of this larger C-18 manifold? all the C-18s I have seen have the same manifold as C-15s except for the twin turbo C-18s.

On the stock engine it was at 4.6 and with the mods done got up to 5.2 thats good for over here 4:33 rears and 110k lbs.
It will smoke if you stand on it at 13-1400 rpm only till it hits full boost then it burns clean,if you shift at 15-1600rpm and slowly build the power up no smoke at all.
Its the response and NO lag that makes it nice to drive,I just have to change the cam and it should breath a bit better.

Like I wrote in earlier post, guys here got extra 200 hp (950/1150) from L-10 just changing from number 26 exhaust housing to 29 on 4 series Holset with much lower boost and backpressure, stock exhaust manifold from 350 hp engine.
High boost is worthless if you have no fuel where to use it or don't have enough time to burn all that fuel completely because of retarded timing. Too much boost just makes more internal losses because the engine has to compress all that air but have no benefit of it when trying to push piston downwards.

C-18 has longer stroke what means higher piston speed at same rpm compared to C-15/C-16. Higher piston speed needs larger area to get peak torque to about same rpm. Larger manifold might be good for race engines with higher max rpm but because most of the guys here build working engines a slight increase in peak horsepower is not worth of lost low end torque and narrower power band. It's not even worth it in race engine if you ask me, very peaky engine is not fast in a race track. High peak power is only for dyno queens.

Ya don't see 550 around much lately seems to be busy working and has a new woman:biggrin_25526:
He still runs a 18918 gearbox in it,I would of thought it wouldn't last but it seems alright.
