Does ATS run on a forced dispatch model for a company drivers?

I can understand percentage for the owner operators — obviously — for a company driver running under a forced dispatch company isn’t there a significant amount of risk choosing percentage?

Now, I’d be coming over with a year of OTR flatbed from Melton. I wouldn’t be pulling anything more than the bottom 1 or 2 classes for my first few months.

I work at a “non forded dispatch company”. They make it pretty clear it’s all about choice here. Always has been. If you chose to turn down a load, for what ever reason, there are things that come along with that. You get no layover pay even if it takes a few days to get you moving again. They are also much less likely to bounce you vary far to a load.

When a driver turns down a load, after we have already committed to that load it can cause lots of issues. If he’s the only driver in the area now a driver has to bounce to pick up that load and it is probably going to be late. The company just pissed off a customer and probably lost money in the process.

As a mileage based driver it’s makes not difference to your pay check what’s on the deck.

All this being said, drivers that have “earned their stripes” have a bit more flexibility in what they do. They have typically earned that flexibility by doing those less desirable loads.

    Just something to think about.

One week is 1200 miles then the next week may be 2600. I’m all over the place. As little as one load or as many as 4. If you are not a company driver, than it’s kinda up to you

Anybody running under their own authority? I am on the process of getting my own authority, I was leased to a small company out of Florida. Looking to work out of DAT, are there any companies that I should look for that will work with new carriers? Any advice is appreciated.

I highly recommend you try to talk to someone that works there. My husband and I do but we run team freight (when available). Some of the info you’ve received so far is not 100% accurate and I rather not say the wrong thing either. Maybe clarify exactly what you want to know?!

After perusing this thread , I can answer some of this .

    We are forced dispatch
My miles avg around 2400 a week
No percentage pay for co. Drivers
    Paid mileage based on class.
Have to haul OS/OD loads and stay out of trouble to move up in class

They don't seem to be in any big hurry to stack OD loads on us, i went the first half of this year without doing one and it seems to me like they're more interested in having 1099 guys than w2s. I'm actively hunting for something different. I don't particularly enjoy doing OD loads anyways. The company doesn't seem bad. Nice people. They haven't screwed me over. Just not a great fit for me.
