Truck deposit ?
What the hell is that all about ?
Guess the recruiter was not informed of this or......... uh........ maybe she forgot............ or
Someone give details, Please -
There is a 300.00 truck deposit. It is deducted at 25.00 a week starting your third week with the company. It is bascially used to cover fees associated with abandonment. If you leave the company prior to one year, and return the truck in good condition the money will be returned to you. If you stay for one year, or longer, the money will be returned to you at the end of your first year.
-
Like I said, my husband was never charged this deposit. He upgraded in 7/07. He was charged for something, load locks maybe, but no truck deposit. I went back and checked and double-checked when someone brought this up last year.
-
There is also a charge for the lock kit. It contains a pad lock, air cuff lock, and a kingpin lock. It is 200.00 and is deducted at 15.00 a week and returned to you when you return the kit at the end of your tenure.

Yes, there is a truck deposit of $300. It is deducted at $25/wk starting after you upgrade and are assigned your own truck. It is refunded at your one year anniversary or upon return of the truck to a company yard / terminal in good condition should you quit.
A helpful hint-
If you are assigned a truck and when you get in it, it is apparent it has not been prepped / cleaned, you are eligible to be paid for cleaning the truck. Last I heard, the going rate was $50 (to cover your labor and the cost of cleaning supplies). Make sure you put in for it.
Update on my situation-
I got to Jackson, dropped my trailer and went to talk to the fellow who is responsible for assigning trucks. Seems there is one driver ahead of me and I am in a holding pattern. It will definitely be within the next 48 hrs though. Until then I get to play on the net and see if I can work up the motivation to pack my schtuff up.
The idea of a new truck- Fantabulous!
The idea of moving all my stuff- UGH!!
So, I had retired to my truck and was playing on the net when *BEEP*, my QualComm goes off. "Check in with local dispatch". So, here I am thinking they have my truck and I practically set land speed records tearing across the yard.
I walk into local dispatch and they ask me for my truck number...so I give them my current one since I don't have any other one to give them. He types it into the computer, hits enter, and.....
OMG!!! I DON'T EXIST!!!!
The powers that be have already removed my truck from the computer system... no esta aqui.....consigned to trucking purgatory!!!!
So local says never mind and I go back to my truck where I can ponder this existential crisis in peace and solitude.
I drive, therefore I am....
But if my truck doesn't exist...how can I drive a truck that doesn't exist?
And if I can't drive....do *I* still exist?
And if I *don't* exist, then how in the world am I supposed to drive when I finally get a new truck that *does* exist?
I'm in shock and confoozed...please call my parents....
C'mon new truck....before I need serious therapy.....

"Hello? Dispatch? Can I have the number to the EAP please?"ScooterDawg Thanks this. -
Funny Post RoadToad. Sounds like you really are under the "radar". Not all bad if you are waiting for a new truck. Just make sure they have your new number. And thanks for the update. I start school next Monday and got my 2 year Medical card yesterday. Well at least that is a start! hehehe
Keep us updated and thanks again -
I had sent you a PM but hadn't heard back yet.
So the time is here, huh? I know you have to be terribly excited! Not about the move, but certainly the truck. If you get a chance. post a picture of it for us.
Good luck and enjoy your "time off". hehehehehe -
Hey 69, you sound more like your in sales than a trucker? I think KLLM should give you 2 cents more a mile for all your good info!
-
Still no truck yet...
If anyone is home waiting for a trainer...PM me and I'll give you the names of two that are available.
Scooter- sorry about not replying to your PM. Until yesterday I didn't have enough posts to have PM access. I have fixed that now .
I'm off to the shower. I'm overdue...fellow drivers are starting to look at me funny...like this --->
RTScooterDawg Thanks this.
