Lenny, I agree with your statement 95%. The larger manifold and turbo housing doesn't effect the power range as much as you think it does. At least in the large bore CAT motors it doesn't. In a smaller engine........I could see this being more of a problem. The biggest problem I see now is injection timing, it's retarded too much with the emission programs that are in these motors. When you get enough fuel in them to build big power numbers. You have problems with EGT's getting high under long hard pulls.KB3MMX Thanks this.

How can you advance injector timing???????
-
That's the million dollar question right there. It would take a computer genius to break the programming language inside the ECM and then rewrite the timing tables. I've been searching for someone that could do this...........haven't found them yet.

C16KIWI Thanks this. -
Thanx, I'll have to check them out.

Do you have any other specs of that engine? We had a 630 hp euro 3 C-18 option in on the road Sisu trucks here in Finland. You could have that same engine in 700 hp euro 3 version only with program change, but it was sold only with Allison automatic because Fuller is not rated for that high torque. I have also heard rumours about those same engines with Cat marine program but stock hardware with 760 hp at the wheels, that's at least 850 at the crank.

I can't remember all the specs on it.........I'm thinking it was 1950 Ft/LBS of torque.........but at a very high RPM. Has the 59 injectors with the 800 hp marine cam. There are two other C-18's in this Hp range, but I can't remember any details about them.....but I believe the torque was 2250 FT/LBS or higher at a much lower RPM
There is a C-18 950 Hp twin turbo.......turbos run parallel not in series. This is strictly for a Osh Kosh Aircraft Firefighting Rescue vehicle. ser # CJP00101........this is basicly the same engine as the C-18 1000 Hp marine engine with a different turbos, two exhaust manifolds and a higher compression ratio piston, if I remember correctly.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
2250 lb/ft sounds about the same as that euro 3 700 hp version. I think it was at 1200 rpm. That engine was also used in Airport firefighting vehicle. Their flashed that software to some Fuller equipped on the road trucks but without gearbox warranty.KB3MMX Thanks this.

Came across something intersting on a C15 powerd truck last night. A Pitts type box by a company called Steinbauer. Rang the company today. $2900 AUD adds approx 20% horsepower. Non adjustable, plug and play set up, looks good if your trucks under warranty, you can just unplug it before going to a dealership.
The driver of the truck it was on said it goes awesome, it was a C15 at 550hp, stock accept for the box. He said it will easly round up 620 sigs. -
I saw their ad some where...I think in the Truckpaper. Looks like a decent system. I would like to talk to someone thats running it before I spend the bucks. I'm just hoping I can come up with a different ECM to help my C-15 first then look at different add ons.
