My Experiance With Expediting

I used to run for a lakeland florida co. called Same Day Delivery. Sometimes I would go from Lakeland to Miami in a 24' straight box with a box that fit on the floor up in the cab and then cut accross to Punta Gorda to pickup a load of plywood comming back to Tampa. From there go to St. Pete to pick up insulation going to Orlando. Then pick up an "Organ" from the hospital going back to Lakeland Memorial hospital in lakeland.All before I could stop! But it paid 25% of rev!

Just thought I'd quickly add this to keep this topic from getting stale, as I'd love to hear whats happening in the expediting industry aswell.

Anyway, I've never hauled a corpse, but I have hauled EMPTY caskets to funeral homes. Picked up at the airport everytime, and ran them whererever, usually way out in the sticks somewhere. Once loaded a casket that was worth more than my house + van combined. Also hauled radioactive "seeds" for cancer treatment. Weird loads? they happen.

 

Funeral homes hate the online casket business but Federal laws force them to allow customers to buy caskets from any source .
Radioactive seeds are used in prostate cancer as an alternative to removal of the prostate . The seeds are implanted around the prostate and have a fairly good rate of success but do have side effects .

 

Sounds like your familiar with both of those cargoes eh RickG? I loved the seeds, load up a few big steel boxes and gtfo, paid very well.

 

Forget about it! You must not keep up with whats going on in the market. Trucking companies are losing money in the stock market like they were failing banks or something. It will be many more months before trucking will pick up. This industry follows the economy like a puppy dog follows it's momma. If you're getting any loads at all thank your lucky stars!
