For those that haven't caught on - I'm the wife of a newer driver, I frequently help him trip plan and find parking for the night (cause I'm weird, and like to plan routes). I'm currently at a loss - he got his pre plan for tomorrow with his first Hazmat load. New Jersey to Lynchburg, VA. No clue what type of hazmat, but guessing not explosive. Can someone help me out with parking restrictions? Is it ok for him to do his 10 hours in a rest stop? Does it have to be a truck stop? Designated safe harbor? Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me out!

He has a hazmat endorsement and doesn't know the answer to that question?

I'm sure he does, but I don't, and he's busy. Like I said, I'm weird and like to figure this stuff out. It makes me feel like I'm part of his life on the road while I'm back at home.Mooseontheloose, Badmon, Trucking in Tennessee and 7 others Thank this.

If I remember right truck stops are considered safe havens. Biggest thing is he cant park next to a road. Rest stops are probably the same thing. I see tankers at truck stops all the time.

A match made in heaven.

"Safe Haven" only applies to explosives. But for everything else, except maybe radioactive, you can take your breaks at any rest area or truckstop.

I haul only HazMat. You can park at any truck stop and most rest areas, and contrary to stories otherwise, you don't need a Navy SEAL sniper overwatch or a letter from the President.Jwhis, scythe08, Slowmover1 and 13 others Thank this.
