That makes me feel a little better.

Some of our ambassadors can still spec a manual it seems. The rest of us mere plebs only get a Paccar Auto or the DT12...

 

Ambassador?

 

A fancy way of saying they’ve done one million Melton miles. They’re the guys that have the different color trucks, can spec a truck with some differences than the rest of us, mostly cosmetic or extra boxes on the headache rack. The new freightliners they can spec them with saddle boxes it seems... would like to have one of those since we lost the tire chain carriers.

They get a bunch of company bonuses as well that equal an extra 6-15k a year — or so I’ve heard.

 

Oh ok, I talked to one of them a few years ago, he had a W900. I asked him about it and he said he got to order it because he had driven a certain amount safely. I guess it’s a decent incentive.

 

Yeah, they used to have hoods for them. I think some of the guys that get manuals still have to say they did so and so miles safety or whatnot. We have some guys who claim two to three million safe miles.

Doesn’t mean they’ve never been in an accident — just one that was never their fault...

I’m pretty sure I’m already ineligible for that. Despite not getting any CSA points on my license — city cop wrote the ticket.

That being said it might “reset” and start fresh. Regardless it’s a non issue to me, don’t plan on being here eight to nine years just to get a different colored truck

I will say... we have a sharp western star in the fleet. And I’m pretty sure our senior most driver is rocking a nice maroon 579...

 

Wouldn’t mind getting one of these though...

 

I’ve got two of them on my truck, they’re different brands unfortunately.

 

You seem like an ambitious intelligent young man, but your own and do what you want.
