Was just driving in SD on I 29 going north at 74mph in cruise, than came up a slight hill very slight. Than engine revved up to 2200 or enough to show red oversees warning. I am light loaded with a 579 mx13, and 13 speed eaton? 410,000 miles on 15 year truck. It's not mine.
Clutch issue not sure?

Had to be the clutch or you broke traction.
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Do you have freeplay in the clutch pedal?
-
I just went through same problem..... it only happens on hills... loaded or empty. More prevalent when loaded. I had my clutch replaced over a year ago. Stopped and had it adjusted, problem went away.
Then I about broke my neck leaving the shop with the clutch adjustment..... lol -
The clutch grabs near the very top of petal. Was told can't adjust much as it's hydrolic? I did not loose traction on dry pavement cruising constant 74mph. I'm guessing idiots drive this truck before I did. And clutch needs work.
-
It can be adjusted. There is no way to feel the freeplay with the hydraulic actuator. First giveaway is the clutch brake will be gone from the bottom of pedal travel. Having issues getting into gear?. Get In the shop and get it adjusted pronto.
BoxCarKidd and Oldironfan Thank this. -
I do not think my carrier mechanic know how to do that. Nor do I. May need Peterbilt to do it. But that's ok guess I an wait.
-
The clutch adjustment is nothing special and is the same as it has been on every eaton clutch for years. Set the 1/2" gap bearing to brake and go. No linkage to adjust with the hydraulic actuator. If it's a solo you may have deeper issues than adjustment however, but the wear tab should show closer to replace if it slipping and is a solo which means it's time to replace.

I have notice splitting gears down it does not catch very good need to be at perfect rpm.
