Wary of TQL

    I did one TQL load 7 months ago. So, I get calls from them daily. They can never accommodate my rates, so I don't run for them.

    The other day, they called me with a load out of a warehouse in Savannah. I was about 90 miles away so I high balled my rate. They accepted so I headed up to Savannah.

    Got 20 miles outside Savannah and they called back asking me to accept $200 less than agreed upon.

    I said no. They said the load was cancelled by the customer.

    Is this typical?

    I never hang up on them or ignore their calls. I always give them a chance but this one time they actually said they could pay what I'm used to I agree to the load and I get the shaft.

    Is this normal because it's the first time it's happened to me.

    Get rate conformation before moving to the load. It's not there fault it's yours

    I was moving there anyway because that's where I usually get my loads back home. They didn't know that though.

    Also, they said it takes 45 minutes or so to send a rate con. I thought that was strange.

    I ended up running a usual load for the same money, so I was not out. I was just taken aback by the deception.

    I've booked just a few loads with them in the past. They're cheap, and have way to much market share. That's about my only criticism. Reckon they were bidding you against another driver?

    That's what I think. Why else would it take almost an hour to send a rate con? Someone called in on the load and took it for cheap.

    10 minute rate con. Make it clear at minute 11 you will book another load. And there will be no courtesy call to drop off your load. Is how I handle tql, the very rare time I deal with them.

    That's definitely going to be how I operate with them going forward.

    I got the feeling the guy who called and agreed to my rate was about three people down the chain from the guy who actually books the loads.

    Live and learn, I guess.

    In 2015 and 2016 I have done their loads, because the freight was slow, nowadays I just have their phone number blocked.
    One of my buddies booked a load two weeks ago with them, live 1 and 1. Receiver said it was scheduled as drop for 48 business hours and TQL was fully aware of that. The booking rep simply was ignoring his calls.
    Another buddy came over with a 53 footer to pick up a load scheduled for 48 footer. The whole shipping department came outside to watch him getting into the dock.
    My last personal experience was being treated very disrespectfully by one of their teenage brokers, I finished the load, but decided not to deal with them again

    The biggest part that annoys me with tql and their slowness to send a rate con is they just go back on their word. When I agree to something with someone that's it - I tell anyone else I am no longer available. That's keeping my word. If I don't have that then what do I have? And they don't seem to think there is any value in that. So that's why their word is mud and everybody knows it. They have one heck of an uphill battle if they ever want to change that.

    The funny thing is, if you demand a RC after let's say 20 min have passed, they ask to wait more, or they will mark you as "fallout"
