I am 60 and do feel great, I got out and addressed the health problems that became worse as time gone on. I have been driving since the late 70,s and sold my soul to the devil for low pay, long hours and to be sold out in the end. Fishing pole does get some use, I can walk upright without a limp again. Find your priorities and go for them. Life is short and we all get the same prize in the end. Go enjoy and live for your family while being there.

That's the wheat / grain place in Commerce City, CO.
Biggest place like that I know of.
You don't talk to humans, you fill out paper and slide through door.

1 minute late or wrong information, you go to holding area.

There are skeletons holding onto steering wheels there.

    Why is trucking so stressful?

Stop #2 is about half the truck. They have no where to put the stuff, no loading dock.

Was about an hour ahead of schedule when I got here.

I would think a box of Coffee Crisp bars would ensure an immediate door assignment and a 10 minute unload......

The old flaps I used to have, came right off that little frame bracket holder and since it had a nice chrome lady on it, I would ask Mr Bear if he would like to keep that as a keep sake since Im fixing to throw the whole thing away and break out the spare from the clean side box.

As far as the big scary words "Service failure" from dispatchers I just have to laugh. And did.

They pause a minute and ask me do I care about my job? I tell them hell no because you don't care to hear what I have to tell you in terms of problems with this stupid appointment that I have called you about several times a day for the last three days and nights only to be brushed off. You can take your precious service failure and stick it where the sun don't shine. Remind me not to take anymore of your stupid non serviced loads when you yourself do not give a #### about the conflicts of time and distance to go.

(Im already thinking towards the new orientation date when the dispatcher blows up and tries to fire me on the phone right then.)

I got the last one on tape using a walkman and a telephone microphone sticker to capture that particular load problem.

8 minutes of playing back that particular load combined with a show and tell of that particular logbook from that particular branded service failure to employer the following week got me hired. (And I was told don't be recording that stuff off the phone, some states it's a felony.)

Firstly, you should stay away from mega-carriers as they care nothing about you. Secondly, never sound like you need the company; they need you and you don't need them. Lastly, you were not given the correct information, so I would have told dispatch you accepted the load on the informaton they gave you. Discuss with higher managment and don't let petty stuff like that bother you. Jobs are a dime a dozen just like drivers.

You work for a mega carrier. There's your first problem. You are a number assigned to a dot on a computer screen. To your dispatcher, you are a robot who operates a time machine and will operate just how their computer tells them you will, and anything that happens to delay you is all your fault.

Get a new dispatcher, and discuss your issues with your direct supervisor. If they can't compromise and help you out, then you may need to find a new company.

Trucking isn't supposed to be stressful, it's supposed to give you a feeling of freedom and independence.
