Is it night driving? Find out before you start and make sure you are the type of person that can stay up all night w/out falling asleep.

If Schneider tells you the freight is no touch, ask them if you will have to be on the dock while the truck is being unloaded. The ideal situation would be for you to be in your truck relaxing while they unload it.

You won't just be hauling Cabela's freight. If you take a 3 stop to Cabelas in Bristol VA and 2 in Georgia, you will need to pick up outside freight to get back to the DC in Wheeling.

Also, there is a $5000 sign on bonus for that job being listed on the website schneiderjobs.com and there is no reason why you shouldn't be getting one for yourself.

schneider isn't too bad but there usually dishonest about the 99% drop and hook.

    I work for schneiders otr.

Drop and hook about 33% of the time rest is live loads which means 1 to 2 hours of unpaid time at the docks. This cuts into your driving time... Somehow it's not as bad as it sounds but you should know there is a fair amount of unpaid time waiting. Schneiders recruiting can be decieving.

Very few if any of there drivers only deliver relays with no live loads.

    Be warned.

Yeah I'm sure they don't disclose how much free time they give customers before detention kicks in.

A lot of their drivers complain about the way they do dention pay. You don't get it if your at your home terminal. When they don't find loads for you and you sit for a full day they only pay you enough to get a beer and lunch. They don't want to encourage or reward their drivers for not working. On the other hand unlike some other trucking companies they arn't motivated to keep you running.

I just sat idle last 3 weekends in a row with no pay :( (But it's not always like that)

Schneiders decided a few years back...they only want high margin high profit loads or just don't run at all.

There are some trucking companies that will pay you $200 a day if they screw up and can't find work for you. Some companies will keep you running even if there just breaking even. Not Schneiders!

There is a lot of dishonesty in their integrity.

If you can learn to manipulate the system you can do well there.

There not that bad in a lot of ways. Every company has there pros and cons.

There a very safe company to work for... they will never make you do anything unsafe and there have a lot if drop yards which means you can often drive nights and still find parking.

If your taking a dedicaded job / route you will have steady hours until the client refits there factory or they lose the client. Then your out of a job.

They are a good starter company, after experience I believe you can do much better , for example with Marten, Bar Nunn, K&b. Most with better detention policies,

Thanks for the advice. I found out the Cabela's account is also eastern, and I would be more likely to pick up a load out west doing otr.
