Thanks, JM. I did contact RMCS. I can mail the unit to them for the $99 fix; sigh. I will check out your alt suggestions, as well. B.C., huh? Greetings from the other side (PEI)

There was a map update that came across my Overdryve Pro 8 that completely crashed my device while going thru final state... the device reset itself but truck GPS refuses to launch... attempted to repair said 112 files were invalid all the while still showing that there was an update needing to be installed... let it run thru the process gets stuck on 112... device resets I run another scan says missing road atlas clicked repair... been sitting on repairing file 1of 1... about to throw this thing out the window...

SO TOW614 What do you think??? If you setup the thread I'll contact Smart Truck

Start it up and text the thread link to smart truck route support. Explain to them what’s up. -
After much thought I am thinking it may not be a good idea.
I have found that the only thing people want to do on this site is argue and ######...
I really don't need that in my life... it's the reason that I have curtailed my participation on this site.jtaran06 Thanks this. -
Just My Opinion on the whole Truck GPS thing.
I have been using the Rand units since the TND 700 and now have several TND 730's and have no intention of getting the new Android units.I'm not a fan of having the dash cam on the unit, I much prefer a good separate one. I really like the Rand GUI and their software is descent but have found their hardware to be minimal. As I am pretty much retired from long haul I don't need a GPS so much but my wife is still driving and using her TND 730 with very few problems and once it craps out I have a brand new one to replace it with.
If I were to invest in a GPS system at this time I would get the new 8 in. Samsung Rugged Tab 2 with the X mount system from Ram and a good standalone Dash Cam. You can virtually mount the system anywhere with the X Mount, the tablet is 4g lte ready and can be used as your complete communication system as well as the tablet having much better specs than anything RM has to offer. As it being Android and able to use cell service you can load all kinds of apps on it for whatever your needs are. I would load Copilot Truck and/or Smart Truck on it and go with that. Copilot has at least 3 full map updates a year and uses the same information as PC Miler and like RM the full maps are always on your unit. No need for tethering and Google Maps Street View could be accessed at any time.
I think this would make a pretty nice setup for anyone's needs.Last edited: Jun 30, 2018
