I have lease autos in the past and one of the clauses in the lease deals with modifications, particularly when it comes to operation safety of the vehicle. Most likely, you violated the lease by making that type of modification You should have read the lease completely and made sure you understood every part of it so you wouldn't violate it.

There's a specific clause in the lease that forbids a lessee from disconnecting any of the "safety" equipment.

Prime is self insured - that means there is no "insurance deal." If you want to know, it's part of Don L (our director of safety) program to help keep us alive. Frankly, I like the VORAD system; if there's something out there in the fog showing a high closing rate, it will react more quickly than I can.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 20, 2009

I can't figure out why anyone would want to disconnect a system that appears to be so incredibly helpful and intuitive. That VORAD system and my Bel STI Driver are must-haves!!!

It is very helpfull, but its not perfect... lane departure alarms when the sun is reflecting just right on wet pavement sucks. I can understand a little if you are team driving and a light sleeper.
My trainer's truck had a system that told you the speed of the truck ahead of you, closing rate, distance and would even apply brake.... in a addition to keeping the cushion between you and the truck ahead of you -
what are you prime company drivers averaging weekly now
-
Doing well enough to keep the bills paid, and my ex off of my a&&! January and February tend to be slow, but it's not bad - I haven't been having non-driving days regularily like some.

Does Prime have a plan for O/O teams ??? I'm considering buying my own reefer but with the economy suckin, I might play it safe. I hope a team could run more consistantly .
-
Actually they do... we have lots of o/o's - but Prime supplies the trailers. I heard last month that we aren't adding o/o's at this time because of the economy. I'm sure that will change when things pick up. Best thing to do is to contact the recruiters if you're interested.
