I got deathly I'll from the TA in OKC, think it is the west one years ago when it had the "Chop House".
It's the one by the old JBHUNT terminal and Sonic.
Buddy I was for real sick. Drank water just to ease the heaves.
Almost 36 hours.
Was thinking "Dang I may need to go to ER", then it eased up.
Was about 10 years ago.

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds

More people get sick and die every year that have never been to a truckstop.Studebaker Hawk and otterinthewater Thank this.

Have had what seemed like near fatal food poisoning maybe 6 times in 42 years of trucking. Most of the time it was a restaurant serving the general public, a couple of times a relatively expensive joint.
It is purely the odds, an occupational hazard. We probably eat in restaurants 5 times more often than the average John Q Public.
Eggs and corned beef hash. Put me in a motel room for 2 days driving that China bus.stwik and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
This is true. However the topic of the thread was Truck Stops. If I had done so I could have written 4 or 5 thousand words telling stories about deaths and long hospital stays from eating food from (general) eating places.
@tucker when you feel the need to quote me in this way I would really appreciate it if you would also acknowledge the context of the comment being quoted because to do you you just did can be considered an insult. I don't because I think I know what your intent was. Some on these boards don't.
If you need to know what context means here!

Moose 1958, if you want to be precise, the topic header is "Petro Choices", not truck stops. It is not been posted in the sub classification of truck stops, it is in the "Questions from new drivers" section.
Which brings me to my second point, not only is the OP not a new driver, his post was a facetious poll regarding the sometimes absurd dietary choices offered to and made by the CDL driving population. The course of the conversation may vary a bit from lasagna.
It's a joke son, a joke, he said in his finest Foghorn Leghorn impression. Context my friend.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -

The topic of the thread was lasagne. Only in Moose's world does a line get drawn from lasagne to near death experience.

I understand. I also appreciate the humor. @Dave_in_AZ and I have bantered back in forth for sometime. I also know the thread was humor. Nothing wrong with humor. However everything else being equal that post should have been worded better. To quote somebody with a corrective comment like that inplies stupid. I know better. However I have seen major font wars started over less. If your going to make a comment in humor like that couch the comment with emocons and say lol.

There are some days I could kill for some lasagna and garlic bread. Not sure if that’s the right context, and it might not even be near death since it’s an expression. What I am really trying to convey is that I love lasagna and garlic bread.
I just voted on the poll after the fact, just to prove I really like lasagna.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.
