I have a 2016 Cascadia with 150 gal. Diesel Tanks on both sides. I want to install a tripac Evolution APU but do not have the necessary space due to the fuel tank. Can I slide the RS fuel tank forward to make space? Will doing that affect the vehicle in any way? Or do I need to install a smaller fuel tank on the Passenger side of my truck? Any help with this is appreciated. I currently only have 16" of space and need 29". Thanks
APU space

You have to have room somewhere under the truck without having to move a fuel tank. What is the wheel base of the truck and have you ran it up to Thermo King to let them have a look? On my Volvos I always had them mount the units under the passenger seat area, behind the removable skirt.

I have not taken it in. I only talked to them through the phone. Thank you both for replying. I'll take it in and look into the generator option. Thanks

Do some research here on the forums about people's opinions of having an APU. Most would go back to one with someone else paying for it. They are problematic (at best) and a PITA to get serviced (regardless of what websites and dealers say). I would def go the generator / batt tender / portable ac route. Much cheaper, much more reliable, and portable from truck to truck (if you are a company / lease driver). I am installing a split system a/c powered by a 3500 quiet run gen set that will backfeed my inverter to keep batteries charged. Still, all said and done, looking at $4000 (including getting a friend to vacuum and charge ac) which is 1/3 to 1/2 of what an APU can cost.
CoyoteExpress Thanks this. -
