Most diesels are around 500 cubic inches. 3 inches is plenty, but most go for the "look". They only turn 1800 rpm, so flow isn't that big of a deal.

I don’t know what kind of trucks you’ve been driving, but a typical 15 liter diesel in a big truck is almost twice that.Roger McG, exhausted379, Oxbow and 11 others Thank this.

I love the straight stack look. But I also love the flippers that go on the end of them. I dont see too many of them with those on them anymore
Tug Toy Thanks this. -
#### bro. Your company puts pickup truck diesels in the trucks? I though my c12 was small. I think it’s around 750cubic inches but requires at least 4inch at minimum. Most these guys on here are running big cubic inch around 900cubic inch and you need 5 inch of pipeQuietStorm and wore out Thank this.

A 632 BB Chevy turning 8,000 rpm only needs 3, but if you think you need 5 at 1800, have fun.
-
Most all are 12L. That's around 800 cubic inches.

How come you drive semis with tiny 500 cubic inch motors with 3 inch pipe. What kind of gears you running and trans to get those tires moving. Old 2 stick like the old Detroit’s? Don’t retract on your statement buddy. I want answers and I want them right now. 3 inch pipe off the turbo is not gonna work on any semi truck. That is just plain silly
-
Now your googling truck engines becuase you really have no idea. No offense buddy but you were dam sure about most semis running 500 ci and run a 3 inch pipe after the turbo. All the turbos and even 12l have 5inch opening on exhaust sideLast edited: Jun 30, 2018

Big difference between a 10L naturally aspirated gas engine and a 15L Diesel pushing 30+ lbs of boost down the intake manifold.
