I am hoping to get into the oil field before the next bust. Schlumberger seems like it might be a good option with a 15/6 rotation with paid housing and transportation.

I applied via Elwood, they said there is a hiring freeze right now as Schlumberger can't keep up with the number of people coming in. That they will hopefully start the interview and hiring process up again in a few weeks.

I was just curious on what my odds were on getting hired...and hired at the higher end of the $75k-105k they have listed as starting? I have had a cdl since 2009. Ran buses from 2009-14, then ran straight trucks 2014-now as well as tractor trailers 2016-now. Straight trucks were articulated knuckle boom cranes, so I have experience with those. I have a P endorsement now. I immediately started the process to get my Hazmat, it does not list it as a job requirement, but I don't see it hurting. I will get the doubles and tanker at same time as the Hazmat, when my threat assesment comes back.

Just not sure what to expect, or how long it will take.

I started my driving carrier with Halliburton 11 years ago. Was a true newbie to everything. You are way ahead of the crowd in my opinion. Good luck and safe travels!

Yeah? It vaguely sounded like I would be bottom rung with the companies without 2 years oil field experience.

Go haul water while you wait for Schlumberger. Plenty of outfits hiring with housing.

Well I am making $65Kish locally running livestock into Chicago and Detroit 4 nights a week. So I am not wanting to jump at just anything necessarily. I got interested in the Schlumberger position given the flights home and the listed $38 an hour.

I appreciate the advice though. I think prior to my current job I might have jumped at that idea.

Southwest Michigan. I am pretty much half way between Chicago and Detroit.
