I'm just curious... is Millis switching their trailers over to duals as well? I had an experience today that will forever be my all-time greatest argument in favor of them.

I'm wondering about that too but I haven't seen any new trailers yet.Steelersjunkie Thanks this.

I guess in this case the obvious answer was the correct one. Looking at the atlas, it looked like going that way added a lot of miles to the trip. I liked going through the woods....once. Seemed like it took forever, though.
Is that also the case with going from Waco to points east on I20? I just had a glass load from there to Albany, and the GPS took me along 2-lane back roads (some with 75 MPH speed limits!) almost all the way out to the Louisiana state line before it got me to 20. Should I have just gone up 35E? -
Save the hassle and the time, especially in the crappy weather. Eat the miles.
Can't help with the Texas part, sorry.Steelersjunkie Thanks this. -
I can't possibly say it enough. Don't worry about miles you drive and don't get paid for. Time is more valuable than anything for any driver who gets paid by the mile. Always take the fastest route, not the shortest.Suspect Zero and JOHNQPUBLIC Thank this.

The 2019 trailers we are getting(sometime) are going to be duals, just like the 2019 trucks.Steelersjunkie, Waterboy334 and Suspect Zero Thank this.

Right on. Bye bye roadsides and ruined rims. I lost a trailer tire yesterday. Sidewall blowout. The hole was small and the tire never broke its bead. I was able to go a fairly considerable distance to get to a respectable truck stop to get it changed. I've never been so grateful for my duals.Last edited: Jul 1, 2018

Week one with my trainer will.be in the books after we deliverna 2 stop in New Jersey. 2600 miles that i drove this week and m trainer has drivel 1100. So should be a good pay day. Im thinking i hate the east coast.
Airmech, Steelersjunkie, Suspect Zero and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yup. Unless you're a special breed, that won't change. The east coast sucks. I have never once been to Baltimore, DC, Philly, or Boston since I got my own truck. Or Atlanta for that matter. That's never going to change, either. Congrats on 2600 miles on your first week, that's awesome. I think Perry gave me 1300 my first week. Topic for another time I guess. That's what happens when you get a guy who just wants to talk to his woman all day on the phone and cash a check.Last edited: Jul 1, 2018
olddogdon Thanks this. -
My trainer liked to spend all day talking on the phone too but we still got good miles.
It's funny you mention those cities. My very first solo load was to that beer distributor in Waldorf, MD. First thing in the morning too. I ended up sleeping at that sorry excuse for a rest area on I66 and getting up early to take it in. Then I saw that there was a Walmart right down the street that apparently allows overnight truck parking. Oh well. You live and learn, I guess.
Every time I drive in Atlanta I get on the CB and rant about how stupid I am. Why? Because I lived there for almost a decade. Mostly loved it but got tired of the crime and more relevantly, the traffic. After the company I was working for went kaput, I decided it was time to be closer to family. Then I decided to try this truck driving thing and go to work for a company that has a lot of freight around Atlanta. Stupid, stupid me.
It took me FOUR hours to get from the Pilot in Jackson, GA to Cartersville last week. When I left Albany I had enough hours to make it to Knoxville. I had planned on spending the night at the Flying J. By the time Atlanta traffic was finished trashing my clock, I had just enough time to make it to Cville.Steelersjunkie Thanks this.
