Are there any specific antenna to buy that is good but not super expensive? And if anyone knows, is this CB a good one?![]()

Hold off on antennae until you are assigned a truck.Faintestidea Thanks this.

Never ran that particular radio but I have talked to a few guys that were using one, or so they said. And they sounded pretty clear at about 3 miles. Other than that I can't say much.Faintestidea Thanks this.

I am in my 4th year of driving "29 years old" I'm what you would call a millennial, ' I think' , not sure tho, anyway I have always had a radio. I turn mine off at night when I go to bed, and sometimes in the morning after I take off I remember ' #### my radio isn't on! It actually scares me a little to not have it on because there's so much stuff that can happen that you only find out on the radio. I know a lot of guys say nobody has a radio anymore but when u start looking there are tons of trucks out there that still do, it's just nobody talks much on them unless there's something going, that's why my radio is always turned on when I'm awake, an I think every truck should have one just for communication. I look at a radio as an emergency tool, I don't use it much but it's always nice to have it, ' just in case'

WHO you drive for should make no difference.
HOW you drive for who you drive for, does make a difference.
The "nice language directed at" you could save you a heap-0-trouble if someone is tryin' to alert you to a potential danger ahead or with your equipment.
It's better to have a CB and not need it, than to need it and not have one.
Or, .........
Better to be safe than sorry.
Go for the best antenna you can afford. That's what will determine the performance.
Some folks will tell you that you don't need a BIG radio, puttin' out in excess of five or six hundred watts. Nonetheless, there will be times you'll want one.

I have a cb in both my 4-wheelers. Cobra 19 with a magnet mount 36" whip. Cheap? Yes. Does it work? Yes. Less than $70 in the whole setup, per vehicle.

I'm just getting an affordable one. Middle of the road one since I have to buy antenna, fridge and micro yet just want to make sure brand and all stuff with it is good enoughAfterShock Thanks this.

Yeah that's a good radio. The stock mic sounds good also, unlike Cobra, Buy a cobra and you need to buy a decent mic so you don't sound like a duck.

Francis makes a thin fiberglass antenna that does well. I wouldn't get anything shorter than 4 1/2', longer is better. That Uniden has a swr meter you can use to roughly tune the antenna. There are directions on the net, it's easy.Faintestidea Thanks this. -
Depends on your truck. Most of the fleet trucks today have antennas and coax lead, stock from the factory, either "real antennas" you can see, or integral antenna built into the top of the cab under the shell. You probably won't need to worry about an antenna. These aren't usually ideal for "power performance" but they are adequate for casual use.AfterShock and Faintestidea Thank this.
